Last Day at Divine Wine Bar..

Yeah, its finally my last day at Divine Wine Bar. Time passed very fast today, especially when i've not slept enough, and rushed my way down from Suntec Giordano to Bugis Parkview Square. And if you're wondering, yes, i worked from 10am to 5pm in Giordano, then started working at Divine from 5.30pm to 11pm.

Just as i finally managed to get along well with everyone there, i had to leave already. Well, it was not entirely a sad moment, it was kind of a relief for me to leave the job, so i can concentrate on Giordano till 5th of June, and that's the end of my 4 1/2 years of working life.

Its been so tiring for me, and the next thing on my mind is to get into National Service and build up my body, train my physique and to learn the next level of maturity, not that i'm that childish, its maybe the way i handle things.

Well, i can't say much for myself now, i just have to experience army life and then gauge whether its true or not, after that, i can cross my legs, turn my palms facing upwards, with my middle finger touching my thumb resting on both laps, i can self proclaim that i've attained a level of divinity and maturity.

Thanks a lot, People of Divine Society and Staff of Chyau Fwu Group, i'll visit you some day.. I've seriously learnt a lot about the ways on how rich people lead their lives :)

Virus Attacks Reported in my very OWN Computer

First signs of virus detected few weeks ago when a small little window will pop out suddenly, and then disappeared in 1-2 seconds, leaving me speechless for a moment. This continues whenever my computer is on, like duh!

Well, and so i declared virus intrusion to my whole family, namely my sister and girlfriend, and then prepared for emergency evacuation aka backup of records and transferring of important documents to gmail accounts because formatting the computer is probably the only way to solve the problem now.

And then, it finally struck, my computer keyboard was disabled, the serial port was disabled or probably spoilt, i can't even key in my password to log into my computer, ah, everything i tried, like changing a keyboard and all that stuff failed.

Brought it down to a computer shop to fix it, but in vain, i saved the money instead.

Firstly, i'm not a nerd, but somehow or rather, i just know what i had to do..

Get a USB keyboard and 4 port USB hub so i can more USB hubs, and there i am, blogging all these to interested people out there. The problem is not solved though, i still have the virus and in the midst of backuping documents.

There are so many problems happening to my computer that it gives me a frown whenever i think of it. Problems faced were:

1. Unable to start the computer without pulling the plug out - Whenever i pressed power on, it didn't work, the light is just blinking, i had to pull the power cord out and reconnected it back so that the computer can start properly

2. Updated the bios, but the processor speed is still running at 750 mhz instead of 1ghz

3. The stupid virus window keeps popping out whenever it likes, any way to solve it?

4. Reserved for updates.

Increased violence among teenagers

Late in the night at 11pm, while enjoying my piping hot bowl of healthy yong tau foo soup with my girlfriend, a startling conversation pierced through the 'nice ambience' in the food court in Hougang Plaza, which irritated me, those young fkers!

' Na Bei Lah, where you want to go later? '

' Kan ni na, my parents want me to go home oready ley!'

'Wah, you damn G Y*(words edited due to censorship) one ley, don't like that ley, i treat you cigarette want or not? '

At this point of time which i turned my head over and stared at them, i dropped my jaws as i observed the group carefully, forgetting the half chewed food in my mouth. The group, not older than 14 to 17 years old are smoking, speaking foul languages, and the most important thing, not even at home that late at night?

Bad company i supposed.

Another situation that i encountered while i'm in the bus.

' That xxx xxxx wah, si bei xia lan in school ley, first day in school bring basketball dowan to share with the seniors, after school he kena beaten up by them'

People who don't know how to think.

Sigh, obviously, this is actually becoming a common sight these days, with all those milk formulas being churned out by some american laboratories fortified with Vitamins A-Z, its no wonder that kids nowadays are become smarter and know how to defy parents' instructions.

This makes me wonder what i am going to do with my kid in future. I need to get some house rules going. I DEFINATELY do not want any of my kids to become like this, like all other good parents, my kids will hopefully be filial to parents, and have good upbringing.

As such, these are the house rules i am going to impose when i have kids in future.

This is especially effective for kiddos who do not know how to think from 12 to 17 years old.

1. Come home before 11pm at any day. There is no reason why you should stay out this late after school.

2. If needed, provide a valid explaination why you did not go home straight after school finishes at 3pm or 4pm.

3. Tell me about your friends, invite them to our house, let me get to know them. That's what my mom did, so she knows who i'm messing around with.

4. After you graduate with an 'O' level certificate, you need to get a part time job to learn the way of life, learn the hard way, learn how to be tough, be street smart, and know how to manage your money well.

5. Do not throw tantrums at home, we can just speak out minds, free speech is very important, tell me what happened, and i'll give you a solution. You throw tantrums, meaning you can't control your emotions well. Its not fair for you to throw tantrums at me when i've not done anything wrong.

6. Able to speak well and express yourself well at any point of time. I hate people who can't express themselves properly.

7. If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, tell me about it, don't hide it from me, just make sure you young little couple don't... don't.... err.. nvm, you'lll do it anyway anyhow...

8. Lastly, No SMOKING WHATSOEVER.

Well, so far, these are the key points that should aid in the upbringing of a growing teenager in this cruel society.

Nurses Deserves Respect - Think about it

I was concerned about the recent ramblings by my girlfriend for the past week, about how the patients and their relatives are treating them badly, in terms of rudeness, or have utterly no respect for nurses at all. And no, she didn't mention about all these in her blog. Its just something that keeps lingering on in my mind.

And yes, i almost wrote to the newspaper regarding respect for nurses. The media could possibly do an investigation or a survey on the current nursing scene and how the public actually feels about the job. The media would definately draw attention into the nurses' life and more people will then find out how most nurses feel about their job. And most importantly, how the public actually views nursing as a job. Dirty job? Low pay? What's more, someone who can't study? It is better to clear up all uncertainties as there is definately mixed reactions from the public.

Being a nurse you have the opportunity to save and improve lives, to teach people how to achieve better health, to advocate for patients to make sure they have the best health care every day without fail. If that is not enough, they take so much time in caring for other people that they risk themselves by being in the front line especially caring for you idiots out there. Not that their pay is THAT HIGH, their pay is miserably low. Now, this is another reason why there is a shortage of nursing staff everywhere.

My girlfriend became a nurse because it was a childhood dream. Her mum was once a nurse in Taiwan. Now she's following her footsteps. Yes, you will be saying, ' Waaah, nurse ah.. so honourable... so noble.. so much sacrifice... ' That's from the group of people who admires nursing because they actually know how much nurses have been through caring for people.

And there is another group, the take-all-things-for-granted-thinking-that-you're-the-only-one-in-the-whole-hospital- group. For instance, you pressed the call bell or informed a nurse that you need her to be there, and if she is occupied at the moment, just WAIT. Most people who belong to this group can't wait or even understand. But the problem is, there are many other patients waiting to do the exact routine too! Nurses can't cater to you just like that! Imagine just 1 nurse to a ward of 8 patients when a procedure could take up to 30 minutes!

It doesn't help if you insult the nurse, it doesn't help if you keep forcing the nurse to attend to you first when your condition is exactly the same as the rest. Moreever, it doesn't help if you or your relatives command the nurse to do whatever you think is right. Look, whose job is this? Who knows the job more than everyone else? The nurses themselves right? So just ask her politely and she'll be more than happy to serve you!

Which side are you? The good or the bad? I am sure Nurses deserve a little more respect than other jobs. I wasn't happy when i first met my girlfriend who is pursuing to be a nurse, but i had to understand that it is her dream to be one. Now, i've learnt to accept that being a nurse brings more advantages than disadvantages. Just one thing to note, i dislike her shift hours. I think shift hours gives couples and families lesser time to be together..

I've no qualms about writing about all these, i just wanted the public to understand what is actually going on in the life of nurses. Definately, there are some happy stories to share being a nurse. Having a patient discharged from a ward, jumping around and smiling, people who get admitted, getting all the care they need, leaving the ward and then sending cards back to thank all the health care staff. Yes, these bright and cheerful moments will definately being a tear to most, if not, all nurses in the health care industry.

To make things clear, these do not represent what my girlfriend has said. These are thoughts that have been going through my mind for the past 2 weeks after she told me that the maid and relatives are bullying her till she almost cried. That keeps her wondering whether all the things she has been doing is still worth it. I certainly do not wish anything would befall on her as a result of what i've wrote here regarding incidents that happened in her ward, if things need to be done, i would gladly remove this entry if you provide a valid explanation

With that, i humbly end my speech, giving tribute to all nurses out there sacrificing their time and risking their lives with such a miserly pay without getting the respect they actually deserved.. Toiling their lives away for people who don't appreciate..

Just concerned..

Working, meeting different people from different backgrounds

Well, what comes to mind when working? For money? Yes of course, anyone who denies that would probably had a silver spoon stuck in his/her mouth ever since the first day they came into the world.

What difference would it make eh! How tough can it be! Its just meeting new people. Yes, part and parcel of life, you do meet strangers and get to know each other everyday. Meeting and making new friends in school are so easy, with a snap of your fingers, coupled with a sense of style and charm, in addiction to your good looks, and provided that you don't have any body odour to match. Friends will flock your way.

In the working world, it is just so partly true! Yes, you get friends, you get jobs, you get people who treat you well when you're good looking. This matters more to ladies than guys. From my experience, the male species are usually the more chee hong type, who would care for their own buddies when it comes to chiobus?! And pretty much the same, the ladies would stick with their own group, whisper and gossip among themselves about that new guy and everything else on earth except on how to approach that guy to strike up a conversation. They usually leave it to my fellow counterparts to be 'automatic'. Why do i suddenly ramble on and on in this paragraph? Peek at the paragraph after the next below.

I started out hard in Giordano for the first few months, its already been 2 and a half years already, i couldn't say more, but to just say thanks for the $19600+ not including CPF that i've earned from you! Besides that, the staff in Giordano are so nice and friendly, besides being strict in customer service and the things that you are allowed to do and not to do, i feel that its 1 of the best working place that i've been so far in my 4 years of working life!

As you know, i picked up a new part time job, a waiter in Divine Wine bar, owned by Chyau Fwu Group. Got this job after bugging and persuading TingTing aka Juleana about her job. From what i found out, its a property developer. And this company, i must say, is filthy rich. On my first day of work, i got to find out that 1 of the few glass tables placed in the bar, costs $27,000!

OMG! GASP!

You guys should go down to Parkview square to have a look! Its situated just behind Raffles Hospital! The office building with lots of expensive statues has its lobby actually converted into a Wine Bar!

Well, like i said, meeting different people from different backgrounds, been working for 3 days times 4 weeks = 12 to 14 days there already, had conflicts with some of the staff there. I'm not sure whether its entirely my fault or not, but they seemed kinda hostile at first. Quarreled a few times with 1 of their full time staff too, but just recently, like yesterday, we cleared up some misunderstandings.

Its good that he's willing to approach and clear up mistakes, i believe that both of us are at fault, but then, i really appreciate that he's speaking up.

What happened? Let's make this short and sweet. I'm from sales line. He's from F&B line. I have experience in F&B line before. He expects me to know everything about F&B because i had experience. When i asked question, or when i do things the wrong way, he was frustrated because i was SUPPOSED to KNOW everything. And who else would know WHAT i AM SUPPOSED TO DO when i just stepped into your company after working in sales for 28 months!

Dude, gimme a break man! I'm getting the hang of it yo, i pick up things FAST! Yes, as in learning new stuff :)

Now i'm finally back

I've been missing for a couple of months already, its just time to update people who're interested about my whereabouts. Somehow, ever since that first and virgin post, which had people thinking that THAT could possibly be the last entry, will now look forward to more stuff.

Haha, and i've graduated from Temasek Polytechnic already, finally, no more exams or anything to worry about. This is something that most people would agree with me, i'll be attending my graduation ceremony somewhere in July, update me anyone?

Currently, i'm waiting for National Service!! Many guys dread the thought of going in tekong or any other training bases because they don't wanna do anything. But I AM going in there with a target in mind! To build up my body, know those gentle guys with great bodies nowadays, you might even mistake them for gays too, i don't know about that! I JUST WANNA HAVE THEIR BODIES! Bwhahahhahaah! We shall see after 2 years of National Service Training. Enlisting on 9th of June! Anyone enlisting on the same date too? Bug me!

While waiting for National Service, i'm still working part time in Giordano, struggled for 2 and a half years there already, experienced lots of fun and laughter, and of course, stress and tears too. With part of my life occupied by Giordano since its just a part time job. I took up another part time job in Parkview Square, a high class wine lounge, as a waiter. The pay is above average, just comparable to Giordano only, but Giordano pay is higher as a part timer :) So, there ya go, 2 part time jobs at once, earning all the money out there before i go into National Service as an underpaid soldier!

And to end this brief update about my life, i passed all my exams too, not with flying colors, but just average results. Hope future and potential employers will look into character and experience instead of just academic results!
